University of Sydney SUMO Industry Night

On the 17th of March, Ben Steer, Yige Cao and Harry Kadi from our Research and Development (R&D) Team attended the University of Sydney, Sydney University Mechatronics Organisation (SUMO) Industry Night. It was a fantastic opportunity for our Reach Robotics’ team members to connect with ambitious students and graduates across the Engineering disciplines.

SUMO, a student-run society within the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology (FEIT), provides students enthusiastic about mechatronic engineering exposure to professional opportunities through social events. The Industry Night was an exciting evening for us to speak with students about what we do at Reach Robotics, provide real examples of work at the company, discuss career pathways, and direct interested undergraduates to internship opportunities with us.

“During my time as a student, I often found it difficult to envision how the coursework would be used on a day-to-day basis in a business setting, so it was nice to now be able to fill in those gaps for current students.

It was nice to see so much interest in the company – many students were eager to speak to us and genuinely wanted to learn about what we do. Many had already heard of us and were interested in internships. It was also a great chance to catch up with some previous Reach interns who came to the event!”
