It is a CR500 and yes it is a dld file. No one here knows anything about security settings for loggers. We are not aware that there is such a thing. That was a guess for the problem but no one here knows anything about how that would have been set.

Is the *.dld program for a CR500? Look at the dld in a text editor, the first line should be something like: };CR500. Be sure to exit the text editor without saving any changes.
Do you have a CR10KD? To find out if there is a security code in the datalogger, using the CR10KD, type *C, if it responds with 12:0000 then there is a security code, if it responds with 01:0000 then no security is set.
