COM300 phone modem_Campbellsci论坛问答

I need to test an COM300 phone modem. The COM300 is connected to an analog phone line and a CR10 datalogger with a SC12 cable. It is grounded to the datalogger as well. When the analog line is called it continues to ring. The phone modem is not answering. Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this? I could also use additional information on how to talk to the phone modem. Would PC208 or Hyperterminal work? I cannot find LoggerTalk software.

Thanks in advance for your help.
Jennifer

You need a power adapter. It used to be our part number 10704 but is no longer available. If you used that modem with that CR10 before you should have one in your inventory.

LoggerTalk is available from our the downloads section of our web site:

I connected the COM300 to a CR500. The phone modem answered but gave me a weird message, such as "Press *2 for menu."
Any idea what this means

The COM300 is a voice modem. It can be put in data mode by issuing a few commas and a 9 at the end of the dialing string (e.g., 1 800 555 1212 ,,,9). I believe the message you hear is the default message. The datalogger program needs to have voice code added to it to provide custom voice strings for the modem. You use LoggerTalk to create that voice code and add it to the program. There is a help file installed with LoggerTalk that will provide information on creating voice strings.

The COM300 manual also has good information on creating custom voice announcements. It looks like the manual is no longer available for download from our web site. If you do not have a copy, please contact Campbell Scientific support and a copy can be emailed.
