Hello,
I've been using the example from the RavenXTV manual for sending text messages from my remote sites. Verizon is my cellular provider. It turns out Verizon discontinued their SMTP relaying service at the end of August and as a result I can't seem to get my CR1000 to send out text messages anymore. Before I try to reinvent the wheel, Has anyone found a work around for this?
Thanks
A Gmail account can now be used. With the firmware release of the CR800 ver. 8, CR1000 ver. 17 and CR3000 ver. 10, Transport Layer Security (TLS) was added as an option. With TLS the datalogger can send mail using the Gmail SMTP server.
You will need the latest datalogger firmware, the Device Configuration Utility ver 1.13 or newer to enable TLS and a Gmail account.
Both the datalogger firmware and Device Configuration Utility can be found on the Campbell Scientific web site under downloads.
Once you have updated the datalogger firmware, use the Device Configuration Utility to connect to the datalogger and select the Settings Editor tab. Scroll down near the bottom and enable TLS by changing the value from 0 to 1.
In your datalogger program, change the SMTP server address to smtp.gmail.com and the user name and password to match the user name and password for the Gmail account.
